Mek (Marantz Electronics), has announced the launch of GTAz, its newest and most advanced optical head available on the company’s PowerSpector and SpectorBOX range of AOI machines.
The GTAz delivers true Stereoscopic imaging using its 9 high speed (90 Fps) cameras operating in full 24 bit color. This new generation optical head removes the need for expensive capture cards utilising Thunderbolt2 20GBs transfer speeds and full frame transfer. 3D from 9 camera views gives the ability to actually see the side of components rather than extruded 2D images from single camera systems. The result is a perfect combination of the 3D features such as verification of body height, tilt and coplanarity along with the 2D fast programming advantages and pin height and solder meniscus profile analysis, component presence/absence, polarity, value, angle, offset, color, extra part detection, solder ball detection and short detection.
Unique stereoscopic 3D imaging is achieved utilizing the full 9 cameras of the GTAz. The image differentials are merged and a vectorised map of the component is created, then analysed based on the programmer’s applied tolerances. This unique Selective 3D methodology requires no active light projection, and thus is both less costly than other 3D solutions and compact enough to be deployed in desk top systems.
Line Sourced DOAL (Direct On Axis Lighting) coaxial lighting system with high resolution Telecentric Optics enables the inspection of solder joints without shadow effects from tall components nearby as well as accurate inspection model building. Omnidirectional multi angle, multi colour LED lighting provides optimal illumination regardless of component direction.
The modular bottom up/top down SpectorBOX GTAz is optimized for the inspection of THT solder joints and the detection of solder bridges and solder balls.
Mek (Marantz Business Electronics), has recently announced the installation of its tenth and eleventh AOI system at RH Technologies. The Israel headquartered EMS provider recently commissioned two new PowerSpector FDAz in-line AOI systems, complementing the existing 9 Mek systems.
Mek has appointed Minneapolis based EMSi as a US sales representative for its AOI and SPI systems. EMSi’s territory is Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. The appointment follows the opening of our direct sales, marketing and applications engineering operations in the Americas, Mek Americas LLC, in March 2014.
It’s a busy time of year as another Productronica approaches. The show in Munich, Germany takes place next week and here at Mek we look forward tomeeting existing customers as well as plenty of new ones and to introducing them to our brand new range of AOI equipment with the FDAz head.
The PowerSpector FDAz is designed for solder quality inspection and engineered for the reliable inspection of everything related to solder; Excess, insufficient, missing. Shorts and lifted leads of SOT, SO, QFP, THTs and chips. It inspects SMT component bodies for presence/absence, type, polarity, offset.
This week Mek (Marantz Electronics) will be at the SMT Packaging Hybrid show in Nuremberg with our German partner SmartRep GmbH. Here we’ll be launching an entirely new generation of AOI technology to be deployed across a line of new Desktop and In-line inspection machines.
Meks latest PowerSpector Series with FDAz head features an entirely new generation of mechanical, camera, sensor, and software technologies that measurably propel the performance of Mek AOI beyond the norm and create new standards for speed, accuracy and inspection strategy.
The new systems will be unveiled at SMT on the SmartRep GmbH booth # 7-419. Selected models will be showcased and the SmartRep and Mek technical teams will be on hand for in-depth demonstrations.
